Implementing
programmes for rural development requires relevant capacities to engage
effectively with multiple stakeholders including local governance institutions.
Effective implementation strategy will yield envisaged sustainable impact given
that a well thought out engagement strategy with institutions such as Panchayati
Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Autonomous Councils is adopted within the programme
design. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the structure and
functions of local governance institutions at village, block, district and
state levels.
