Unit 05 (IPPME)

Unit 05

Unit 5 of the course attempts to illustrate the process through case studies from all over the world.  The attempt is to better understand the process through practical examples. This will also show the various problems that arise in the process practical application.

Village based participatory monitoring and evaluation entails the integration of the existing structures of governance and using them to enhance the process. This means, like in the case of India, the utilisation of the Gram Sabha and the Gram Panchayat to better implement participatory monitoring and evaluation.

After completing this Unit, you will be familiar with:

  • A range of practical approaches to participatory monitoring, through case studies (from Asia, South America and Africa)
  • The use of  monitoring tools   in  different  settings
  • The key questions that need to be addressed in PM&E
