Dear All,

Hello and Good Morning, This is Alok, from India. I am living in Delhi and currently associated with Society for Participatory Research in Asia, New Delhi.

During the last 17 years I have been associated with adult members of different communities, in various ways. Interaction with adult members of community always gives a new insight. But it also, sometimes, put me in a situation where I had to struggle a lot.

I am hopeful that this course and forum of learners will give me some ideas to solve some of my problems through sharing of experiences.

Hi everyone!

My name is CAO Thi Thu Hien, Cao is my family name, you can call me Hien, as we do not have the custom of calling someone by their family name. I speak Vietnamese, it is my native language and English, it is my undergraduate major.

Currently, I am the International Cooperation Manager for SEAMEO Regional Center for Lifelong Learning (SEAMEO CELLL in short). The center is very young with over one year of officially internationally approval. In Vietnam in particular and in South East Asian countries in general, lifelong learning is a completely new region.

I have had long experience of working in higher education field in Vietnam but lifelong learning and adult education is a blank field to me. The main driving force for my taking this course is that I hope I can get a better understanding about adult education and lifelong learning for the needs from my working place.

I am now working and living in Ho Chi Minh City, it is the city in the south of Vietnam with my family, they are my husband, my son and daughter.

There are only two seasons in the south of Vietnam: rainy season and dry season. April is the hottest month of the year, the temperature may jump up to 41oC for some days. According to new comers, the rain in my city is so unique: you may have sunshine, then the rain comes in from half to an hour, then it stops raining and the sun comes back to smile with you again. The perfect things you can do during this time is listening to music or if you are riding a motorbike on the road, you can stop at a coffee shop, enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting for it to stop raining.

My hobbies have changed from time to time, but reading, cooking, gardening are the main activities I always love to do everyday.

It is a happy chance for me to be in the same place with all of you in this course.

All the bests.

Cao Thi Thu Hien
