Dear all Aluminium smelter has deployed most modern technology and placed robust Health, Hygiene, Safety and Environment systems and procedures to safeguard and promote the health and safety of employees. Nevertheless, there are areas for improvement which require be listing, prioritizing and working upon: 1.Ergonomics matrix is needed be created for all potential tasks and should be segregated as High, Medium and Low candidates . 2. PTA cabins and other similar moving equipment's with transparent glass panels are not being maintained by users(be it operators etc.) in a tidy manner, resulting in eye strain and abnormal postures for the users of these equipment's. 3.Lack of job rotation in most work areas is leading to employees staying abnormal postures(prolonged sitting, prolonged exposure to vibration, prolonged bending while seated in PTA and similar cabins to view and perform the ground operations) for prolonged periods. please feel free to share with me some more knowledge and your experience in ergonomic related issue in Aluminium smelter as we are facing high ergonomic issue in our smelter . Most of our employees with inadequate anthropometric measurements in the initial few years(before S A Medical centre became operational) to perform tasks with physical strain and abnormal reach etc. is causing musculo-skeletal problems and S A Medical has been putting up with pressures to clear candidates with inadequate medical and physical and mental fitness; it is important for S A Medical to maintain strict medical standards for pre-placement medical evaluations to ensure that only fit persons are recruited and placed in right jobs.
